Garbage & Recycling

Garbage collection services in the Town of Quispamsis are handled privately. The collectors alternate household garbage one week and compost the next. It is the responsibility of the homeowner to contact the following private contractors for regular waste and compost pick up:

Composting
The Fundy Region Solid Waste Commission supplies each household in the Fundy Region with a compost cart for organics. The collectors provide a separate collection of organics on a biweekly basis. On compost days your organic container is to be placed at curbside for pick up.

New Rules for Yard Waste
Beginning this fall (2011), yard waste will only be collected at the curb with compost.
Yard waste includes leaves, brush, twigs, weeds and grass. Yard waste
packaged in black or coloured plastic bags will not be collected.

Acceptable packaging for Yard Waste:
• Compost Cart
• Brown paper bags
• Compostable or clear plastic bags
• Brush & twigs can be bundled and tied with string.
Bundles should be less than 4’ in length.
Branches no more than 2” in diameter.

Bulky Items
Your garbage collector provides a regularly scheduled bulky item pick up year-round. The Town of Quispamsis pays contractors to provide homeowners this curbside service. Please contact your private hauler for more details.

Recycle Bins
Collect your household cardboard, paper & boxboard, plastic, metal & milk containers and bring them to the Blue Bins located at:

• Ken-Val Co-op
• Village Place Mall (near Shoppers Drug Mart)

KV Redemption Centre, a bottle exchange depot located adjacent to the Ken-Val Co-op, will take your returnable bottles, cans, etc. in exchange for the going refund rates.  KV Redemption Centre will take back your old paint for recycling as well.
