Additional steps to mitigate forest fires in the Kennebecasis Valley
Quispamsis and Rothesay are taking additional steps to mitigate the risk of forest fires in the Kennebecasis Valley during this period of extreme heat and dry conditions.
Millennium Cycle Bike Park in Quispamsis will close at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, due to its remote nature, wooded areas and access challenges for emergency responders.
This is in addition to the closures at Hammond River Park (Quispamsis) and the trail system at Wells Recreation Park (Rothesay).
All Kennebecasis Valley trails with barricades at the trail heads are closed during this time. Other trails will remain open unless circumstances change.
Residents are encouraged to limit the use of open parks and trails.
A burn ban remains in place throughout New Brunswick, which includes campfires and fireworks. All Crown land in the province is closed.
Call 911 if you see or suspect a fire in your area.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding and ask that you respect barricades and other signage that may be in place for your safety.
Please monitor town websites and social media for the latest developments as we work to protect the Kennebecasis Valley.
