Road Construction Notice - Street Upgrades 2024 begin next week

The Town of Quispamsis Street Capital Upgrades program will be getting underway next week for the 2024 construction season.

The proposed work is generally expected to include road resurfacing of all, or a portion of the streets identified along with replacement of road cross culverts in poor condition, adjustment to road shoulders as well as minor ditch reshaping to improve local drainage. Collector Roads may include or continue widened shoulders for Active Transportation purposes.  

Preliminary site work has already begun at some locations with roadwork expected to begin in the first week of June and run through September. Landscaping and driveways will be restored at the end of each project.

Motorists are advised to expect traffic delays during the construction period. The Town’s Contractor will make every effort to maintain one lane of traffic or ensure flag persons and appropriate signage will be on site to direct traffic through the construction area. 

If construction prevents safe movement of motorists, cyclists and/or pedestrians, the Town may require road closures. In these cases, detour signage will be installed, and the public notified.

Residents are reminded that they are responsible for locating corner property pins at the street frontage as well as underground wire, such as power lines for electric dog fences or decorative lighting wires that pass in or near the ditch line or road shoulder.  Residents should also mark out local drainage systems or drain tile outlets that tie to Town ditches, prior to street construction work commencing.

• Kensington Avenue (Westminster Drive to Winchester Drive)
• Westminster Drive
• Winchester Drive
• Princeton Avenue
• Palmer Brook Road (Offramp to Elliott Rd)
• Model Farm Road Phase 1 (Hammond River Road to Charity Lane)
• Roby’s Road
• McAlpine Drive
• Hedley Lane Cul-De-Sac
• Cliff Street
• Millennium Drive (Route 119 to Market Street)
• Quispamsis Road (Meadowlark Drive to pedestrian bridge)
• Crack sealing – various streets
