Emil Olsen is a fixture on Quispamsis Town Council. He has been a member since 2004, serving as deputy mayor from 2008 to 2012. This follows his time as mayor of Quispamsis, prior to amalgamation, from 1983 to 1995.

Emil has been very active in Quispamsis since arriving in 1974. His community service record is lengthy having participated on numerous provincial, regional and town committees. He has won several awards related to his community service, including the 2025 King Charles III Coronation Medal, the 2018 Louise Breau Memorial Award, the 125th Anniversary of the Founding of Canada Commemorative Award, the Queen's Diamond and Golden Jubilee Awards, and the New Brunswick Day Merit Award.

He is proud to have signed the original regional agreements for fire, police, and library services on behalf of the residents of Quispamsis and continues to support and recognize the strengths of our regional services.

Emil is a team player and wants to work with his fellow councillors to address the challenges of our growing community. A municipal water system, affordable housing, apartments, accessible paved trails, sidewalks, paving of roads and lighting are among his priorities.

Emil currently serves on the Joint Board of Fire Commissioners and the Emergency Management Organization Committee. He is a previous vice chair of the New Brunswick Municipal Employees Pension Board and chair of the Rocmaura Foundation. He also completed six years of service with Recycle NB.

Emil and his wife Margot raised four children, and have eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Emil is committed to providing his support and energy to oversee the continued growth of Quispamsis.
