Mary Schryer is serving her first term as deputy mayor after a previous stint as a councillor from 1999 to 2006.

Mary has worked for the residents of Quispamsis to establish new housing options for seniors and persons needing specialized housing and long-term care assistance. These partnerships and collaborations have brought King Way Care Centre, Parkland in the Valley, and affordable housing to our community.

She turned her attention to promoting and creating avenues for healthy lifestyles, which advanced the building and enhancement of the Arts and Cultural Park, the qplex, KV Fields and KVHS Theatre.

Her time on the Regional Police Commission helped her gain support and funding for the introduction of the KV Domestic Violence Outreach.

Mary is a former Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Quispamsis, where she served as Minister of Health, Minister of Social Development, Minister for the Status of Women, and Minister for Seniors and Housing.

While in the provincial government, Mary was able to expand her partnerships into the Greater Saint John region to gain support and funding for Bobby’s Hospice, Sophia House, New Brunswick Medical School, Dalhousie Medical Research, and affordable housing.

Mary has worked with residents, businesses, non-profit organizations and all political parties to create a Poverty Reduction Strategy for New Brunswick.

Mary was elected to the Horizon Health Board in 2012 and 2016. She completed her second term in June 2021.
